SO REAL – SURREAL presents a body of work by Ghanaian artist Nkwaye Ansah, exploring the delicate space between the tangible and the imagined. Working primarily in ink and watercolor, Ansah allows the fluidity of watercolor to meet the precision and permanence of ink—creating pieces that feel both grounded and dreamlike.
The exhibition invites viewers to question perception: what is solid, what is fleeting, and where the two meet. Soft washes of color drift across precise lines, suggesting that reality itself can shift depending on how we look.
This is an intimate presentation of works that breathe, dream, and quietly challenge the boundary between the real and the surreal.

ABOUT THE DEI CENTRE
The Dei Centre for the Study of Modern African Art is a gallery and cultural hub located at No. 7A Ninth Street, Tesano, Accra. It is home to the Dei Collection — one of the largest documented private collections of contemporary Ghanaian art — and serves as a space for exhibition, research, education, and dialogue about modern and contemporary African art.
The Centre was established at the family residence of the late Seth Dei, who assembled the collection over several decades with a commitment to Ghanaian and African visual culture. It is directed by Nana Ama Dei.
